They can be constructed and designed to meet the particular needs of a community (strengthening and protecting shorelines, mitigating pollution and effects of storm water runoff, filtering Guano from Geese, creating essential floating pollinator gardens, etc.).  Community recreation activities e.g. fishing, boating, scenic viewing etc., can be easily integrated and improved.
